at a client of mine, the line kept dying, and the ppp/options "persistant" parameter didn't seem to do the trick for more than a few failures, and pppd would freeze. ifconfig still shows ppp0 is up but the line would not really pass packets.
Let me do a wild guess - it used to fail after 10 retries? "man pppd" (or even a lookup on linux-il archives) would have told you that "maxfail = 0" should solve the problem for you (at least it solved the problem for me back when I used it, and a few others on this forum back then). (Today I use a D-Link ADSL modem/router and no pppd from my Linux machine so I needed your post to jiggle my memory with the "persist" option I used back then) (sample refs: http://mirror.hamakor.org.il/archives/linux-il/12-2003/7358.html) Cheers, --Amos -- "(a grizzly) can tear through a tree like a Jewish mother through self-esteem." - The Simpsons ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
