I have never tried it, but it seems that Medussa does much of what you want: Package: medussa (0.8-4) Distributed password cracking system Medussa is a distributed password cracking system that can attempt various types of attacks to crypted passwords distributing the work on many machines. Available from http://packages.debian.org/unstable/admin/medussa It doesn't use john directly but apparently reuses part of the code so maybe it has similar capabilities.
