Don't know about years back history storage, but for recent
discussions (up to a few months back) both those archive are pretty
useful.

OTOH, the oldest message on gmane.org dates "2002-07-31 00:05:49 GMT
(3 years, 38 weeks, 5 hours and 27 minutes ago)"
