Another answer, in addition to what Oleg and Eli have written, may be
that your definition of "heavy processes" is wrong. If you are running CPU
intensive processes, it does not necessarily mean that they are heavy on
memory, as well. Your CPU may be very busy without swapping out.

Another option - do you happen to have a lot of memory on this machine? a
lot more than you used to, but you still use the computer the same way,
and you just do not consume all your new memory?
