I've never used nfs before since aside from my computer, all the other
machines on my network were Win98 so I used Samba.

I convinced my wife to try Mandriva2006 and she's quite happy with it. So now
I wanted to use nfs to share files.

I set up nfs in both directions (amazingly easy to do - no comparison to
Samba). My wife's machine shoshana.solomon can properly access the one
directory I allow her. In the other direction, I want my machine
shlomo1.solomon to be able to mount the entire shoshana.solomon file system.
I mounted shoshana.solomon on /mnt/shoshana with no problems and can see the
entire disk.

Now here's my problem. I can enter "almost all" directories with Konqueror,
but there are three directories that give me a problem and I can't understand
why, or what's different in these directories.

/mnt/shoshana/boot and /mnt/shoshana/home both show up as empty directories
(which is obviously not true).

/mnt/shoshana/root shows up as a locked directory and can't be entered (even
when I tried to run konqueror as root)

With the exception of root which obviously has different permissions, I don't
see any reason for these three directories to act differently.

Here's /etc/export from shoshana.solomon
/ shlomo1.solomon(rw)

Here's the relevant line from /etc/fstab on shlomo1.solomon
shoshana.solomon:/ /mnt/shoshana nfs defaults 0 0

And here are the permissions as I see them after mounting shoshana.solomon

[EMAIL PROTECTED] solomon]# mount /mnt/shoshana
