Accessability. Currently, I use key based ssh access to get to my email from a remote system. This requires some sort of SSH client and a key. I have a USB dongle to carry the key and a copy of putty since windows systems don't include an ssh client. However it requires me to have the dongle with me. It also requires access to a USB port which is often but not 100% possible. > A local imapd. At least uw-imapd and dovecot support a > "pre-authenticated" mode of running the imapd by the user. AFIK there is none for windows and I can't be sure that a copy for a Linux system will work on what I can find when I get there. The last time I was away from home for a day and wanted to get to my email, I found myself in a room full of linux machines with ssh version 1 clients and only ssh version 2 keys on my dongle. I've since added and old style key and a copy of putty. However if I were to forget the key, be in a place that did not allow them, or only have access to a web browser, I would be out of luck. I guess I can live without email for a whole day, I do it every shabbat, but it's not fun. :-( > Shouldn't be an issue. Looks like this is the one. Any suggestions for a different imap deamon? Thanks, Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
