I'm not a debian developer either (used to be) and think that apt-listbugs,
while lacks on interface, is a life-saver when dealing with anything newer
than "stable". I can't remember how many times it warned me from upgrading
critical packages which would have ruined my system. I'd recommand it to
any debian system maintainer.
