Naturally, there are plenty: $ apt-cache search msn amsn - An MSN messenger written in tcl ayttm - Universal Instant Messaging Client bitlbee - An IRC to other chat networks gateway gaim-guifications - toaster popups for gaim gotmail - utility to download email from a Hotmail or MSN account hotsmtp - smtp to Hotmail (HTTPmail) gateway hotway - pop3 to Hotmail (HTTPmail) gateway jabber - Daemon for the jabber.org Open Source Instant Messenger jabber-dev - Daemon for the jabber.org Open Source Instant Messenger jabber-msn - Provides the MSN transport for the Jabber IM server kmerlin - Instant messaging (IM) client for the MSN messenger network kopete - Instant messenger program reaim - Enable AIM and MSN file transfer on Linux iptables based NAT centericq - A text-mode multi-protocol instant messenger client centericq-common - A text-mode multi-protocol instant messenger client (data files) centericq-fribidi - A text-mode multi-protocol instant messenger client (Hebrew) centericq-utf8 - A text-mode multi-protocol instant messenger client gaim - multi-protocol instant messaging client As you can see, some of them are relevant. IRC folks may consider using bitlbee . What I currently miss the most about it, is decent logging on the (bitlbee) server side. Because I want to be able to easily switch from one IRC client to another (e.g: to bitchx in a remote connection). This, along with a good IRC client, is another altrernative. -- Tzafrir Cohen | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | VIM is http://tzafrir.org.il | | a Mutt's [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | best ICQ# 16849755 | | friend ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
