I'm pretty sure it isn't. I once cancelled it along with most other services
and still got the poor bandwidth from kernel.org. And downloading from
mirror.hamakor.org.il is still fine while it is running.

OK. I've already switched from one Ethernet card to the other here, because
the previous one stopped functioning. Is it possible that my computer
serially damages the Etherenet cards it is using? :-(
