Hello,
I recently installed SUSE 9.3Pro on a Dell 2300, 1.8Ghz, 1G MB PC133 with Dual boot - WinXProSP2. Installation went good but when I try to login - I get a grey screen which logs me to FVWM and not KDE which is what I was hoping for. I searched the official SUSE forums and found this is a know bug in YAST online update (YOU) and what I should do is make a change , as root, in the file
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager from
DISPLAYMANAGER="xdm"
to
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"

However, when I got there, the file already had "kdm" in it so I had nothing to change. On SUSE forums, people report that changing this did solve the problem and they were able to have a choice during login to pick KDE instead of FVWM. This is not the case here for some strange reason. Another suggestion was to use 'rckdm restart' as root from the command line after changing from "xdm" to kdm". I am using bash which replied that rckdm is a bad command. Same happened in sh.

Would anyone have any idea how to be able to log into KDE and not into this 'safemode' FVWM?

Thanks much,

Gidi
