I can't say about Oracle Israel, but Oracle in the U.S. has been working hard for quite a while to make sure that Oracle is optimized on Linux.
They worked particularly hard to ensure that Oracle works optimally on Linux on the Mainframe (Linux/VM) to let it compete with DB2 on that platform.
