This is a well known trick, but I cannot tell that it does work 100%
of the time. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I havn't taken
time to investigate the issue extensively, but from my limited
observation it depends largely on kind of code/script that Matlab
runs.
In short this trick doesn't work smoothly, at least not here, at WIS.

Another possible solution for Matlab lies in using MPI toolbox (for
Matlab). There are several, commercially available. We haven't tried
any.
