Hi list,

I want to make a floppy disk bootable, and to automatically boot a
(Linux) live CD when it is booted. You may dictate the filesystem of
the floppy (as long as it is something that can be mounted later by the
live CD; the floppy contains a tiny file with some definitions for the
CD, like IP/subnet/defaultrouter/DNS in case there is no DHCP server).

If you are curious to know the need, this serves 3 purposes:

1. When it's impossible to change the boot priority of the BIOS, and we
are not going to be near the PC whenever it reboots, so we can't
   take out the floppy.
2. When the CD drive is connected to the PC through an interface which
is not supported by the BIOS, like USB (a usual problem of laptops,
even modern ones, when there is a special drive for booting, but the
laptop is usually sold with another CD, lighter one, and with more
features - like burning, DVD, etc.).
3. To save time if we forgot to take out the floppy before booting.

When googling, I found many solutions, like BootMaster, and wondered if
any of you has experienced one of them and can recommend.

I want this "boot redirector" to support USB, of course.

Thanks,
