Hi, David,
Thet say that better late than never:
On MS-windows, ImageJ, a Java program developed at NIH, might be
a better bet than ImagewMagick.
The program, which mimics the functionality of the Mac program
image, can be freely downloaded for either windows or linux from
their site.
If you like point-and click work and know some java, this is the
tool.
I do not fulfill either condition: I can get some 20 double tiffs
in a day of measurements and I much prefer to be able to process
using some script or loop. And I don't know java, so despite
their friendly list, I am lost when something does not work quite "like
advertized" or when I need something something slightly different.
Nevertheless I find it useful from time to time.
There is also a rich collection of contributed plugins, but I
think that your querries are answered by the basic program.
Another program that can read, manipulate and write tiff files is
Matlab - very expensive if you don't have it anyway.
Good luck, Avraham
