Yes, but he could have described the job more accurately. It would not have broken secrecy to say that it is one person of a team, even if he did not want to say how many were in the team. Or what the company does, as in 10 servers and 100 machines with users, or 50 programers, etc,. > But what if it IS a case of 100 identical machines, and a sysadmin group > larger than one person? Then it might be, but then even in Israel where everyone is taught be a team player from birth, there are enough sysadmins here that are not, that it would have been good to mention a group. That also changes dynamics of the job. One person is on call 24/7. One of 5 a lot less often. > Is this anything particular to Sivan's approach, or is that a general > observation on today's job market situation? Every job I have held since 1980 EXCEPT at HUJI required me to keep my compensation secreet or be fired. Even for job offers in Israel I was asked to keep compensation to myself and it was part of the contract every employee was given with a job offer at my last job. So how many people did reply that were legaly obligated not to? Or did they just ignore the survey. > > > But are you a system administrator, or someone who has another skill set > who can ACT as a system administrator? It does for me, as I said to another poster I've been doing systems programing etc, for 34 years longer than most people on this list have been alive. > Full time - most likely. Especially since when you > and I met professionally, a signed NDA was the very first thing you > wanted. There is a proverb in Hebrew which I suspect is relevant here: > "הפוסל במומו פוסל". I have no idea how to translate that reasonably. Because I was asking you for your participation in a development project that will be funded at about $5M USD a year and could generate $200M USD or more in revenue a year for several years after that. Who wants to leave that dependent upon someone you can't trust to keep their mouth shut. That's what the NDA does, it estabilshes a level of trust between my company and the consultant (you). You are legaly bound to not tell anyone what I am doing, and I'm leaglly bound to not steal your ideas, employees, etc. For example, you mentioned that you had a guy, we'll call Fred FLintstone, working for you who would be perfect for the job. Without the NDA, I could just call him up and offer him a job. Since you disclosed the confidential information of your business to me, I am obligated by the NDA not to use it without you. I wasn't attacking Sivan, I was just pointing out that the market price for top level people is a lot more than $15k. If he expected to get someone for that he was most likley IMHO mistaken.
