Yes, that notices page is really awful... For now I can suggest a workaround
though. Just a few days ago I wrote a script that parses that page, extracts
those messages and builds a standard page out of them. It's a lame attempt by
me to write in Perl, but it works. You can find the script here:
http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~menache1/schwarzesbrett.pl

I just wrote it for my own needs. You can see an example of it in action at
http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~menache1/notices.html.

And in general, in response to the problems you brought up and the solutions
suggested by others... I do find it very sad that places that I think are
supposed to promote open-mindedness and free thought are in fact no different
than all other places in our society when in comes to this topic. I don't
think that it's anything specific with TAU. It's a general phenomenon which
is unfortunatelty very common not only here but worldwide.

In any case, some have suggested OpenOffice, wvWare, et al. But these won't
solve the problem, which is "standards" which are not open. We can't settle
for this as a solution because the next versions of MS Office might introduce
new formats... In short, the solution is educating people to use open
standards...

Regards.
