I would join recommending SUSE 9.1. I've been using it for few weeks
now. It has an excellent hardware support, it's polished and quite
easy to find your way around (as a user).

I was pleasantly surprised to see this friendly "plug and play" messages.

Cannon IXUS worked with 0 tweaking, so did Orinoco WiFI, NVIDIA add-on, etc.
