Well, I'll be surprised to hear you got apt working with RH9. I'm guessing that more likely you got and installed apt-rpm later without Red Hat's assistance, in which case you should be familiar with the sources.list file that apt-rpm uses (if it's like in Debian, APT's alma mater, it will be under /etc/apt/). Please look at the file and see what sources you are getting the packages from. the packages you get depend on the sources you chose there, not with the fact you have RH9.
