Hi,

We still need system images and graphics. If nobody will do these, all
you will get at August Pengiun will be a blank business card sized CD (or
maybe a CD with Win98 rescue system :-) ) , and it will be kind of sad,
wouldn't it?

   Cheers,
   Shachar

Subject: Linux Business Card Size CDs for August Pengiun

Hi,

Now, that we have enough money for preparing mini-CDs/business card
shaped CDs for August Pengiun, we need:

 I) A good, preferably Hebrew enabled bootable Linux systems images to
burn on the CDs. Good initial pointers for the interested are:

http://www.lnx-bbc.org/ - LNX BBC site.
http://www.goosee.com/puppy/ - puppy linux
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ - damn small linux
http://www.morphix.org/ - morphix, a highly costumizable Live CD linux
distro.
http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php - a list of live linux CDs
distros

All of them are trimmed down linux distributions, which are small enough
to fit in a business card shaped CD, and most of them has documentation
for remastering. The subject that are IMHO are the most important for an
Hebrew version of a business card shaped CD are:
A) Hebrew FONTS - most of these distribution has, for disk space reasones,
removed the Hebrew fonts from the system, making it completly impossible
to use Hebrew enabled application. Adding Hebrew fonts will do wonders in
this aspect.
B) Making sure that the base compoments are Hebrew Enabled (i.e. ISO
8859-8 translation table in the Kernel, gtk 2.x or a recent QT, with
Hebrew support enabled)
C) Enabeling the keyboard mapping stuff in the X server.
D) Putting some small applications to demonstrate the Hebrew support.

II) Graphics to print on the CDs - make it look pretty, and include the
AP logo.

   Cheers,
   Shachar
