Hi,
I'm trying to install SuSE 91 (kernel 2.6.4) on a machine that has the LSI Raid adapter, and it doesn't have the driver. I have few questions:

1. the importer here in Israel claim that this is a hardware raid. There is some raid support in the bios level of the adapter (initialize, configure and so), but as far as I understand from the user guide and the fact that there is no co-processor on the adapter - this is a software raid. What is the right answer?

2. I've found a binary module that comes with a SuSE update for the kernel, that upgrade the kernel to 2.6.5. I'm loading the module (megaide) and it's loading fine. I can't find a device that uses the major number this module register for (254, char device). Any idea how do I use it?

I've tried googeling for the last couple of days, but with no luck.

Thanks,
Ilan
