Layman's question:
would I be able to run my other-partition's WinXP with it?
Well, there's a script to convert VMWare images to full hard drive image, but it's not stable yet to replace VMWare. Trust me on that ;)
Also the network stuff is using SLiRP (or TUN, depends how do you configure it), so it might have some problems ..
