bootparam(7) mentiones both 'panic=N' on the command line and

Nice. Does grub has an equivalent for Shachar's lilo -D/-R?
It doesn't have this feature and it can't boot from a root that is on a RAID device.
Also, I'm not sure whether it has support for giving the menu through a serial console.
