There is documentation for it an probably a whole lot of howtos. You should also probably setup a firewall. I like shorewall but there are a bunch of other solutions. Doesn't it get slow in the download stage or the install stage. During the install stage there is very heavy disk activity which keeps my computer straggling if I try to do to many other things. It may help limiting the number of simultaneous connections if you want to keep the bandwidth low.
