FYI,
A LOT of the problems people report to have with eepro100 chipset cards is due to a bug in the hardware that causes the PCI bus to hang when the "sleep mode" feature is enabled in the card's EEPROM. Newer versions of the eepro100 driver from Donald Becker actually check for this feature being enabled in the card EEPROM and warn the user and you can use Mr. Becker's eepro100-diag program to turn it off. I have been using cards with these chipsets with the Becker (eepro100) supplied driver for aq long time and have not seen any problem AFTER disabling the "sleep mode" feature. Without doing this I did experience sudden card hangs. Finding the eepro100_diag program is alittle trick right now, as the Scyld web site is undergoing some sort of mutiotion and the source isn't accessible, but you can find by googling for eepro100_diag.c Hope this helps, Gilad -- Gilad Ben-Yossef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Codefidence.
