1. Is it means that if I want to continue to use Mandrake
   on desktop and to install a new updates I have to upgrade
   OS version each year ?

2. How painful the upgrade is ? I remember that they always
   recommend to "uninstall everything and then install.." :)

3. Do we have any distribution (beside Gentoo) that do not
   require upgrading ? I.e. once installed, some "emerge -world"
   always (!) bring latest updates for all packages ?
