anyone has an idea where one can get the ISO images of RHAS3? I could
only find the Taroon images (beta 2.95) mirrored ll over the place.

someone (who chose to answer me off list so I won't mention names) has offered to copy me the ISOs from his work since he is not sure it's legal.

NOT LEGAL? but it's GPL and other free licences! the SRPMs are
available on the RH site, so why are they hiding the binary immages? I'm
searching google and can't find good answers, the only place where I
found a small remark was in some RH online docs that claim the ISOs are
available on the RHN for subscribers only... but there is a catch, only
people with access to the RHN means only people who already got RHAS¸
which is quite frustrating and expensive.

I CAN'T be the only one looking for these... anyone had this experiace
already?

your ideas are welcome...

Their claim is that while all of the software is GPL or otherwise free, their trademarks are, well, trademarked. They only approve the distribution of their trademark with the support etc. You are thus not allowed to distribute these CDs unless you remove their trademarks from it. They even make that quite simple - just replace a couple of files (one for the shadowman image, and the other with the text "RedHat Advanced Server...."), and then you can redistribute it to your hearts content, unless you don't tell anyone what it is.

I'm not sure that they are allowed - wait, strike that.

I am very sure that this is not what trademark law (which is what these conditions base their legal teeth on) allows them to be this restrictive. I have expressed my opinion in the past, on this list and elsewhere, that RedHat have crossed the line between "making money from selling free sofware and services" to "trying to deprive you of rights you should, by right, have". I think the point where that crossing can be plainly seen is where they ask you to agree to an End User License Agreement when installing Fedora and RedHat AS that says that you accept their interpretation of Trade Mark law. To me, this means that they know that what they are asking you to do is contrary to what they are allowed to ask you, but want to limit you anyways. As far as I'm concerned, if I wanted that, I would have gone with proprietary software.
