I think your complains regarding Microsoft Word format are ridiculous. I don't what you to send me documents in Open Office or in PDF formats as it will make another unnecessary loop.
How is that ridiculos? There is no way to ensure proper conversation from OOo (or KOffice, AbiWord etc) to MS-Word without vieweing the document in MS-Word, which means purchasing (and using) Windows+Word (or Mac+Word if everything's in English). Both cost money (and not a small amount of money) and are arguably inferior to other solutions in many aspects. If you insist on a format easily-readable by MS-Word you can use RTF which has a rather (if not fully) open specification.
