I tried using make defconfig and then it did compile, it is easier then going through all the options to search for anything connected with IDE.
However, after compiling and rebooting the kernel, my sound card did not work and I had no internet connection.
I tried installing prepackaged kernel 2.6.0-test9 (Debian unstable) and everything works.
doing lsmod I find that it is using snd_via82xx sound module, I tried using the same thing in the kernel I compiled but somehow it does not work.
I have VT82C686 sound card.

As for the internet I have no idea why it does not work, how do I check what kind of module it uses in the running kernel so I can use it in the new kernel I compile?
