Let us now look into the propriety software side. The obvious example comes to mind: Microsoft.
Well, I think there was another big fork in the propriatery software world and
that is the Great Unix Fork. Not talking only about System V vs BSD but also about
the different versions of Unices from the various vendors.
The same can easily happen to the various Linux distributions as well.
Or rather it is actually happening as e speak.
