What do you mean? That output of "lspci" was under the older kernel, which probably just isn't up to date with that hardware.

If so, I don't think you should bother, it's an and Intel PII(something) ATA100.

As for the AMD you mentioned, I agree, compiling the IDE interface does provide a performance boost. The AMD PATA seems more advanced then the Intel one.

:-) It just seems to use the hardware properly. I think my Maxtor is actually running at 133MHz, from my boot log:

hda: 160084415 sectors (81963 MB) w/7936KiB Cache, CHS=65535/16/63,
 UDMA(133)
