[sorry for cross-listing; it's important for both of the lists]

It was "kept as a secret", because nothing is going to happen on that
date.

Now to the details:

As you probably know, there are "KAHATs" (Interesting Groups) organized
by People&Computers, about Linux. I was appointed to maintain the
Desktop and Hebrew KAHATs, no clue why. Zvi Bruner and Uri Leibovitch
maintain the "Tashtiot" KAHAT (infrastructure).

"My" KAHAT was planned for the 1st half day of Dec. 18, while "their"
KAHAT was planned for the 1st half of Jan. 8.

The 2 biggest computer companies, as all of you know, are IBM and HP.
Both of them have about 1 Linux event in a year (in average). After
People&Computers published the dates Dec. 18 and Jan. 8, these
companies published the dates of THEIR Linux events; No, you were not
wrong: the 1st half of Dec. 18 (IBM), and the 1st half of Jan. 8 (HP).

Coincidence?

Well, after counting the days in a year, and excluding the Saturdays,
Fridays, holidays, etc., and multiplying the result by 2 (because there
are 2 half days in a day), you get the number 448. The chance that the
2 biggest IT companies will have their Linux events exactly on the same
half days that these 2 KAHATs take place, is 1 to 200,000 (448^2).

So the TASHTIOT was postponed to Feb. 10. And then to Feb. 15. Until
next date...

So now, that Jan. 8 was emptied, "my" KAHAT was set to that date...

If it was not tragic, I could laugh...

So it will not be Jan. 8. And not any other date, even if it is
published, as long as I don't get the confirmation of the lecturers.

P.S. The original date of HP was not Jan. 8, but Dec. 10, and it was
postponed because...

..Gartner set its own conference to the same date...

Unbelievable!
