This, by tghe way, does not sound so different from one of the ways to run a VMWare guest (from a "virtual partition" or whatchamacallit, rather than "Raw" from a real disk partition). > What exactly does connectix do? is there a free software > alternative? AFAIK, Connectix used to be a company that did something similar to VMWare, i.e. PC emulation (don't grill me on details, please, I don't know them). You could run Windows, MAC, or OS/2 as host, and get a virtual PC, and run multiple OSes on it. It was recently bought by M$. Connectix has been discontinued, and there is M$ Virtual PC 2004 instead. I have no idea whether M$ managed to cripple the implementation of Virtual PC somehow, but they have a list of guest OSes on their site. The only non-M$ OS there is OS/2. This does not mean that you cannot run Linux or BSD there - there is no statement to that effect. I would not be surprised if it were crippled indeed, but I don't know. Will Bill buy VMWare, too? No idea. -- Oleg Goldshmidt | [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
