Does IGLU currently charge any money in order to list counselors? No. IGLU can't charge money (who's account will it go to? Who will issue the receipt?). Hamakor, on the other hand, can.
I thinkThe IGLU site is flawed on too many levels to begin describing. There is no mechanism that tries to keep no longer relevant entries out. There is no description of the company.
it is in the interest of the Linux society to be able to prove that there
is payed support for Linux, so that people are not afraid that they will
have to depend on free will of people.
I suggest to list in an Alphabetic order, or in a random order. Since I doGo for it. The most difficult part is getting the policy right. I suggest differentiating entities by several categories. First, I would differentiate people who give support on a friendly, no (or little) payment basis from people who provide commercial level support. I would actually produce two lists, and say that participating in the first list is free. I don't think there is much chance of people "cheating", as I don't think commercial support seekers will at all look at the first list.
not see myself doing any side job in the next few years, I think I can
take the job of administering this page with clean conscience.
Next, I would differentiate between the clases of support. There are those who will support whatever you happen to have on your computers, and those who will only support you if you have 1 2 and 3.
I think there is a community need for the list to be as complete as possible, and yet a financial interest in people paying for the privelege. I think this gap can be solved using a pricing policy saying that merely getting listed (possibly with link to web site, but not much more) costs X. With a few words of explanation Y. With your logo Z (where Z>Y>X). How much X, Y and Z are is something that will need to be figured out according to market situation. X should probably not be very high, however, so that anyone who wants to be listed, can be listed.
