via82cxxx_audion is an OSS module, while you appear to be using ALSA (all the 
modules that start with snd-*). The problem with sndconfig and Mandrake is 
that sndconfig is a redhat tool (it even says so on the title) that does not 
support ALSA, while Mandrake includes ALSA for a long time now and its own 
internal hardware utilities (harddrake) prefer ALSA modules (and rightly so).

I also have a VIA with on board sound, just don't remember the exact model 
(not infront of me now), and for me the intel AC97 codec driver 
(snd-intel8x0) worked fine.
