When you are mentioning "market share" you are talking about the polularity of certain technology in a certain "Market".
The value of "market share" is a product of "Marketing" and not technological exellence or one special technological feature or another.
"Marketing" function usually performed by people known as "sales people" which usually don't know what exactly they are selling
their main interest is in covering their "sales quota" to receive a better percent from a deal
(plz note there are some sales people in the market involved that actually know what they are selling, very rare though).

Therefor it is logical to conclude that if you find a good-enough salesperson with enough encouragment it is possible to change
the "market map" for X (actually without even mentioning Xfree).

Don't forget that most people in Israel don't pay for their home OS, therefor are not part of this "Market".

I personally don't like the traslucency features in menus and windows for the simple reason: waste of resources - which can be translated to
waste of money.
