  I believe that straight through cables are simpler to produce: you
literally push the cable into the RJ connector and press it. Crossed
cables are more complicated since the manufacturer has to cross the
wires. Or am I confusing things? In addition, market inertia is
something that should not be taken lightly. Maybe backward compatibility
would sound better.
