I meant "K12" schools, not universities. The latter can handle

write FOSS and they tend to form linux clubs, etc...

I wonder if, when you say "Universities", you actually mean "computer science and engineering schools within universities". I have yet to hear of an FOSS-oriented faculty of musicology, biblical studies, archaeology or - sadly - Education.

Anyway, this whole thread makes my fingers itch to start a bit of party politics oriented lobbying. I'm a member of a certain party. Perhaps I can use that. Do we currently have anything going on w.r.t. the Knesset or the government? Last time I heard of any activity it was in that famous presentation in the committee of science and technology last year. Is anything being currently in process? Is anybody among us being in touch with relevant politicians?

This is just an idea a-brewing. I'm not experienced in lobbying. But I've been itching to do something for society at large ever since I left that infamous NPO, maybe I can try my hand at this. So, if anybody cares to enlighten me as to how things stand, maybe by private e-mail, I might try to hold on to this fleeting idea...

One thing about edu-ware: if we don't find a way to supply a replacement for the CET edu-ware base, we're really screwed as far as k12 is concerned. Building edu-ware requires more than technology. You need to follow the MOE programmes, and you need pedagogic knowledge (How to teach, how to attract the child, how to make him active, how not to lose his attention, how to make him remember). Currently, the CET controls the market, and its edu-ware is strictly Windows.
