As to your original problem, aren't those problems might point anWell, of course. An intruder MAY have generated those symptoms. It's highly unlikely, however.

Logs are not full, TCP communication is at normal level. syslog has warnings about SCSI errors. All symptoms show that this is just a hardware problem.
