Hello I'm trying to configure the graphic display on a newly installed Mandrake 9.o (dolphin) with 2.4.19-16 kernel ,256 mb RAM , and a 6 GB HD.
The Graphic card is an S3 trio, and I am using a new IBM p275 screen. when ever I run the Xconfig or the XFdrake ,it recognizes the card , specifies the screen as a generic 1028x786 60 MHz , and I set it to 800x600 16 bpp. when I test it I get the same error all the time : "config error : /etc/X11/XF86config.test:211 " I checked this and found that in the "Screen" section in the first stanza the device field is left as "" . when I tried to tweak it - nothing helped .
