I forgot who (Dvir?) posted here a few weeks ago about having a
similar problem with pure SCSI - non USB - tapes and the way he work
around it. Something with symbolic links if I remember correctly. In
case you don't have a work around for the USB problem you might want to
check whether his work around can be adopted for the USB case.
