This "reflection" of argv[0] to the outside world via ps(1) is common to most Unices. Moreover, some applications carefully change argv[0] to convey important info to the outside world. A famous example is sendmail. If you connect to the smtp port on your mailserver and run ps on the mailserver you should see (at least) two sendmail processes (one waiting for connections and one serving your connection). Note the difference in their names... cute, isn't it? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Oron Peled Voice/Fax: +972-4-8228492 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.actcom.co.il/~oron Linux: If you're not careful, you might actually learn something. -- Allen Wong ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
