Just a bit of history: The Astrophysics Department at TAU started using Linux in 1994, IIRC. I remember the astonishment of looking at a PC whose screen looks just like a Sun workstation we were used to. I was using Exceed X emulator on a PC and worked on a Sun remotely at the time.
