A couple of comments/suggestions:

1. You're using a very old kernel. You have much better chance to get
the camera to work with a newer kernel.

2. You seem to have the sources for kernel version 2.4.8-26mdk
isntalled but you are running kernel version 2.4.8-34.1mdk. You should
compile the module against the same kernel you're running.

So basically my suggestion is - grab the latest kernel from the usuall
mirrors, compile and install it and then try again with the sources.

There exist a very good howto on kernel compiling (good for "linux
kernel compile howto") and you can feel free to ask questions (both on
and off the list) regarding compiling it if you after reading it
something is still not clear.

Good luck!
Gilad.
