Great! NVidia's nForce chipset. I knew why I hate this chipset ;)
I have no clue whether this chipset is supported my Mandrake 9 or not. Late AC 
patches do have some support for it though..

Try this:

1. load your linux with the ADSL USB unplugged..
2. Do (as root): tail -f /var/log/messages
3. Plug the modem, there will be some lines added to the log
4. Unplug the modem and post those lines please....
