The latest beta of Mandrake 9.0 contains some USB cable modem drivers, and they work really good (at least for my AMBIT modem). If you ask me though - it would be better to connect your modem to an Ethernet adapter. It works better, and all you need is a recognized (...) network card. 3COM in my case. Besides that - a USB printer and a USB cable modem don't live together peacefully (unless you don't have anything else attachde to your USB slot. In this case, you have no problem).
