This is plain wrong. Please go and read the GPL again. Changing the program or not changing the program has zero effect on the issue at hand. The issue is that Netvision (for lack of attantion, nothign else) is distributing a GPLed program without the license required accompanying items: a. A note that says that this indeed is a GPLed program, including a copy of the GPL or refernce to it. And *either * one of the following: b. Sources for the program. c. A *written* (as in ink and paper) obligation valid for three years to supply the sources to any third party or a copy of the obligation they got from wherever they got the sources. Without these items, regardless of whether it is the original program or not, they are in violation of the license agreement and in fact infrige on the copyright of the owners. Having said that, it is completly clear to me that this was done without malicious intent and by lack of knowledge of the requirments and nothing else. Therefore a kind request to include a README with the license and the method by which one can get the source from Netvision is apropriate. Again, this is a mere 'technical' matter, Netvision is *not* doing anything wrong on purpose, but we still need to request that the license agreement will be kept to the letter *or else we might lose the right to ask that the license be kept when some other body decides to attempt to circumvent the GPL*. > > i dont see the problem with the package name..does anyone ? No problem with the name. Problem with not standing to the terms of the license agreement.
