Two options:

1. set your locale to a UTF one (e.g: he_IL.UTF-8) and set the console
font to LatArCyrHeb-16

2. If you use an 8-bit locale, then stick with 8-bit fonts:

  consolechars -f iso08.f16 -m iso08

That is: translations (acm): iso08, font: iso08.f16
