Hi, I just wanted to notify people, that the KDE team (well, the guys who started KDE) are having a new project - called "kroupware" (it's temporary name)..
Kroupware is an open source, german funded project to make both a server and clients operate as same as MS Exchange. Everything is open source. It will be composed from several open source parts (LDAP, Cyrus IMAP, postfix, and more stuff) in the server part, while in the client parts - KMail & Korganizer will be modified extensivly to let you share calendar,etc.. In the Win32 clients area not much will be changed. You'll be able to work just as you worked with your MS Exchange server before. Migration - There will be a migration application to move from Exchange -> Kroupware. Interface to manage the beast - first it will be with web interface, then it will be rewritten as a KDE's KControl part. The project is on a very tight schedule - some results with code should be out by October 15th (this year). The client will not become part of KDE 3.1 (since KDE 3.1 will be out next month), although you will be able to compile it as a stand alone.. Just thought to let the people know - if anyone thinks to migrate from Exchange or to install one...
