yes.
the connections script that invokes pptp checks for the cables internal 
(10.40.x.x) IP address before dialing.
it actually creates a VPN tunnel to the isp using the cables network, much 
like with ADSL. only with ADSL the tunnel is created to the ISP using a phone 
line instead of the cables.
