My friend have a Linux box that connects to Netvision via
cable modem. The procedure is same to described in your
HOWTO with one difference - I do not need to change default
route to the far end of PPP link. I'm using default gateway
received from DHCP server at the beginning.
Also - for going outside I'm using IP received from DHCP, not
from VPN.. I mean when I log into some remote computer
it says I came from IP that correspond to my eth0, not to my ppp0.
Strange...
